Frequently Asked Questions
How does the 42mm Submersible wear compared to the 44mm?
Noticeably smaller on the wrist, and it's the reference to choose for anyone under a 7.25-inch wrist. Lug to lug is shorter, the case is thinner, and the crown guard is scaled down to match. It still reads as a Submersible, just one that fits under a shirt cuff.
What is the Calibre OP XXXIV?
Panerai's three-day automatic used in the 42mm Submersible and several Luminor references. No date on this one, small seconds at 9, 72-hour reserve. It's not the in-house P.9010, which is what the 44mm PAM 1305 and 683's successors carry, but it's reliable and less expensive to service.
Is the PAM 683 still in production?
No. Panerai replaced it with the PAM 1305, which uses the P.900 movement and a redesigned case. The 683 is the last of the earlier 42mm Submersible layout, and it's now sourced through the pre-owned market. This example includes two OEM straps and one aftermarket strap.
