What does Forze Speciali mean on this Submersible?
It's Panerai's collaboration with COMSUBIN, the Italian Navy's special forces unit that Panerai originally supplied dive instruments to in the 1930s and 40s. The DLC-coated titanium, black dial, and rubber straps follow the unit's operational spec. It's the closest modern link to why the brand exists.
What is a flyback chronograph?
A normal chronograph needs three pushes to restart: stop, reset, start. A flyback resets and restarts on one push while running. The P.9100/R does this with a column wheel and vertical clutch, and holds 72 hours of reserve from twin barrels. It's the movement to have if you'll actually time things, not just admire the counters.
How does a 47mm Submersible wear compared to a 44mm?
Bigger in every direction, but titanium keeps the weight close to a 44mm steel Luminor. The rotating bezel and crown guard add visual mass, so this is a 7.5-inch wrist and up watch. On the right wrist it doesn't look oversized, it looks like a Panerai.
